Round Table

Empowering the ICT Ecosystem: Education, Research, and Workforce Strategies for National Growth

The Italian ICT sector is facing a structural gap between the growing demand for digital competencies and the limited supply of qualified professionals. This roundtable aims to explore concrete policy actions and collaborative initiatives along four key axes—School, University, Research, and Work—to relaunch and strengthen the ICT domain in Italy. Starting from early STEM education and orientation, to enhancing the attractiveness of ICT university programs, fostering strategic research investments, and improving labor conditions and talent retention, the session brings together academic, industrial, and institutional voices. The discussion will focus on actionable strategies to close the skills gap, boost innovation, and align national ICT development with European and global transitions.

The session will feature the Presidents of the main Scientific Societies (SSD) in the ICT, fostering a shared reflection on the strategic role of the scientific community. From early STEM education and university-industry collaboration to research investment and talent retention, the roundtable will offer a comprehensive vision to align national development with European and global digital transitions.
